Description

 Boscobel Pharmacy has been a pioneer in pharmacy care provision in a community setting. We provide a full line of home safety and personal health care items. 

Primary Objective of Staff Pharmacist:
Competently dispenses medications, related supplies, and provides all clinical pharmacy services. Leads, directs, and supervises the pharmacy staff in manager’s absence to accomplish goals. Leads team by modeling, coaching, and maintaining high standards in patient service. Structures and organizes workflow and systems for efficient prescription filling, patient counseling, and providing clinical services.

Ensures team is fully trained across all areas in the pharmacy while using performance appraisals to constantly improve pharmacy service and performance. Fosters an effective working relationship between the pharmacy and the general merchandise area of the store and champions company programs to ensure full implementation and daily execution.

Provides personal service in all areas including: skilled professional pharmaceutical consulting, disease state management, medication therapy management, and administration of immunizations as appropriate per training. Ensures appropriate, reliable and consistent patient care through the distribution, control and delivery of pharmaceuticals according to professional standards and state and federal law.

Major Responsibilities:

Pharmacy Operations

x Provides professional service to customers by presenting a positive image of the pharmacy and store while leading by example.
x Dispenses prescriptions accurately and according to all laws and policies.
x Organizes and directs workflow.
x Participates in Workload Balancing across regional pharmacies.
x Ensures all communication is addressed and disseminated to all staff.
x Dispenses appropriate brands and preferred generics to ensure coverage by thirdparty providers, utilizing generic drugs wherever possible.

       o Ensures pharmacy staff adjudicates prescriptions with specific directions and correct days-supply to avoid audit risk and              resolves all rejected claims prior to dispensing.
x Consults with patient to professionally provide accurate information related to their prescriptions and health.
x Engages customers through quality interactions and relationship-building; leads team by example.

x Maintains clean, neat, and well organized pharmacy.
x Maintains a professional appearance as outlined in the dress code policy.
x Follows all company policies for purchasing drug inventory.
x Follows all company policies in regards to controlled substance inventory control and dispensing practices.
x Follows all company polices relating to loss prevention and security procedures. 

Pharmacy Leadership
x Identifies optimal programs to address patient needs and executes that solution to assure retention of patient.
x Collaborates effectively with store team and Field Leadership to drive staff development. Provides a pharmacy atmosphere and excellent customer service to develop and maintain patient loyalty.
x Leverages tools, reports, and processes to exceed sales goals.
x Leverages Pharmacy Manager, Operations Manager, and Quality team for guidance.


Long Term Care
x Develops and follows up on long term care (LTC) business through immediate communication and attention to the needs of the nursing facilities, group homes and assisted living residences.
x Identifies LTC business and communicates opportunities with leadership. 
x Communicate effectively with all leadership to ensure guidelines are followed and expectations are clear.
x Actively involved with technicians and LTC facilities to ensure accuracy in billing of Medicare Part A patients.
x Participates in On Call as needed per established rotation schedule (location or market specific).

Professional Programs
x Supports and completes Pharmaceutical Care responsibilities:
    o Ensures full completion of participating Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs and all clinical intervention      programs through partnerships with third party payers and drug manufacturers, as well as Annual Wellness Visits for Medicare Part B-eligible patients, as identified in applicable queues, and in independent platforms, supporting the company goal to increase patient medication adherence and to improve overall patient health outcomes.
    o Completes and maintains immunization certification requirements.
    o Completes all necessary training to provide greatest extent of pharmacist scope of services allowed by law.
x Fosters development of the pharmacy business.
    o Provides and promotes immunizations in store and with local employers.
    o Fully implements all company programs such as Ready Refill and Medication Synchronization. 

    o Participates in local health fairs and identifies opportunities to serve as an information resource for the community.
x Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
B.S. or Pharm D. in Pharmacy, including current pharmacist license in good standing. Will be required to annually obtain a certain number of continuing pharmaceutical education credits as determined by state pharmacy regulations.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:
1. Education and experience:
    x Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. or Pharm. D. in Pharmacy.
    x Maintains a license in good standing from the state and all health care programs
    x Current Immunization Certification
2. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    x Knowledge of, and ability to appropriately and correctly apply the techniques, methods, procedures, principles and practices of the pharmacy profession and company policies.
    x Ability to accurately review drug therapy prescribed for each patient. Has knowledge of the clinical effects of drugs.
    x Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and effective communications with physicians, other medical professionals or technicians, staff and customers.
    x Ability to maintain accurate records and fill prescriptions accurately.
    x Ability to maintain a clean, neat, well organized pharmacy.
    x Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public in sales situations. Must be able to multi-task.
    x Ability to manage the pharmacy to achieve company's financial and service goals.
    x Ability to handle stressful situations and deal successfully with difficult customers and employees.
    x Ability to maintain effective, positive working relationships with employees and supervisors.
    x Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
    x Good organizational skills. Be self-directed with good time management skills.
    x Skill in operation of the following tools and equipment; cash register, computer terminal, copy machine, credit card processing equipment, phone, calculator, e-sig, e-prescribing, and pseudo records in TWRx.
    x Ability to travel occasionally e.g. company meetings or assistance at another TWD location.
    x Reliability in reporting for work on time and when scheduled.
    x Ability to multitask.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Is aware of the Safe Lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Selection Guidelines:
Formal application, rating of education and experience, interview by leadership team and reference check from previous employer(s) and State Board of Pharmacy. Federal Sanctions databases must be checked before being able to work as a pharmacist.
